Weida (M) Bhd is proud to announce the appointment of Wong Ling Ching, one of Malaysia’s most promising women’s national badminton players, as an official Brand Ambassador. The partnership takes effect on 1 May 2026, marking a shared commitment to sporting excellence, community, and the development of Malaysian talent on the world stage.

For Weida, the partnership carries a special resonance. Ling Ching hails from Miri, and Weida was founded and is headquartered in Kuching — both proud daughters and sons of Sarawak. Yet Ling Ching’s journey now reaches far beyond her home state: every time she steps onto court in national colours, she carries the hopes of Sarawakians and all Malaysians with her.

A Rising Force in Malaysian Badminton

Ling Ching has built her reputation the hard way — point by point, season by season. She first announced herself as a national champion at Under-21 level, claiming both singles and doubles titles, before going on to win the women’s singles gold at SUKMA and capturing international titles on the world circuit, including at the Slovenia International Series.

Since then she has become a consistent presence on international podiums — earning medals at the SEA Games in both the singles and team events, at the World University Games, and at Super 300 tournaments — while also pushing deep into the later rounds of top-tier Super 300 and Super 500 events against the world’s best. Her repeated selection to Malaysia’s Uber Cup squad is a mark of the trust the national team places in her, and of her standing among the country’s leading women’s singles players.

Behind every one of those results lie thousands of hours of training — the early mornings, the recoveries, the near-misses that became breakthroughs. It is precisely this championship mindset that Weida is honoured to stand behind.

Where Sport and Enterprise Meet

For more than 40 years, Weida has grown from its Sarawak beginnings into a diversified group operating throughout Malaysia, across six core sectors — infrastructure products, environmental management, engineering and construction, telecommunications infrastructure, healthcare, and renewable energy — supported by more than 1,000 professionals across some 30 plants and offices nationwide.

The parallels with elite sport are striking. On the court and in the boardroom, the formula is the same: prepare relentlessly, perform under pressure, learn from every setback, and keep raising the standard. Excellence is not a single moment — it is a habit, built quietly over years. In Wong Ling Ching, we see the very values we ask of ourselves every day, embodied in an athlete carrying our nation’s flag to the world.

Investing in Malaysian Talent and Women in Sport

This partnership sits naturally within Weida’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility commitments. Weida is dedicated to driving positive change in the communities it serves — supporting local councils, investing in essential infrastructure, and advancing educational and welfare programmes to elevate quality of life. Championing a young Malaysian sportswoman on the international stage is a proud extension of that same purpose.

By backing local talent and women in sport, Weida hopes to send a clear message to young athletes across the country — from Sarawak to the peninsula: your ambitions are worth backing, and your nation believes in you. Representation matters. When a Malaysian sportswoman stands on an international podium, she inspires the next generation to pick up a racket, lace up, and dream bigger.

Onward, Together

To Ling Ching: welcome to the Weida family. Your discipline inspires us, and we are behind you every step of the road — from the training hall to the world’s biggest arenas. May this partnership give you the support and confidence to chase every goal without limits. We look forward to celebrating the many victories still to come, as you fly the flag for Sarawak and for Malaysia.

And to every member of the Weida team: let Ling Ching’s journey remind us why we do what we do. Greatness is built quietly, in the unglamorous hours, by people who choose to give their best when no one is watching. Whether we are on court, on site, or at our desks, the same spirit drives us all — resilience is the key to sustainable growth. Let’s make Malaysia proud, together.
