Rädlinger Primus line GmbH is a German company, specialising in trenchless technologies for water, sewage, and oil & gas pipelines. Their innovative Primus Line® technology offers a safe, reliable, and sustainable solution for the trenchless rehabilitation of pressure pipes. The technology rehabilitates old and leaking water pipes without the need for open excavation to remove the old pipe, nor lay a new one. Instead, a multi-layered, HDPE composite liner is inserted and pulled through the host pipe to “reline” it.

The liner is designed to take high pressures. The installation process is fast, efficient, safe, and sustainable. More importantly, it does not disrupt any existing activities at ground level. Around the world today, the Primus Line technology has been used in more than 55 countries, with more than 1,000 km of liner installed. The technology is best suited where direct pipe replacement is not possible or is costly, for example, in areas of heavy traffic such as road crossings or bridges.

In support of the State Government to achieve one of the goals for the water industry in Sarawak, in line with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which is to reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW) to 25 percent, WEIDA hopes to introduce the technology in Sarawak for NRW projects, where it is estimated that over 2,700 km of ageing or damaged water pipes in Sarawak are slated to be carried out over the next five years.
